A note from our founder Mary Franklin-smith

Light of Mind was created to help people have an embodied experience of their own mental health. We offer interventions to enable those we serve to come into a trusting relationship with their bodies, spirit, purpose, and intuition.

It is our perspective that isolation creates and exasperates suffering and that connection eases it. At Light of Mind we prioritise community and aim to find innovative ways to help one another come into trusting relationships with the human and more than human world around them.

Wishing you the peace of the deep oceans.

As we begin to see our burnout as a blessing and our suffering as a signpost we come to understand that our innate health is always here to guide us by letting us know our moment by moment needs

We each experience the world differently and live in our own internal reality.

“The world is not as it is, but as we are”

We each have vastly different viewpoints, perspectives, beliefs and relationships. In order to find peace within ourselves and one another we each need to do the work to understand our inner world.

“The near explains the far”

As we come to understand our inner conflicts, prejudices, bias and addictions we can declutter our minds and makes space for outer connections and reconciliations.

We each need help to see beyond our own blindspots. Through connection with a trusted other we can start to feel safe enough to face our shadows. One of the most healing experience a human can have is to be fully witnessed by another.

We each need to be seen and feel understood.

As we start to trust that our story is safe to share, we begin to see clearly the reasons why we feel and act the way we do. We begin the journey of observing and exploring our psyche we find the answers to questions we didn’t even know we needed to ask. Step by step we come into closer contact with the self we were born to be and develop compassion for the self we learned to be in order to be accepted.

Jess was always so attentive, engaging and caring. Sessions with Jess were the most impactful sessions I had on my recovery journey and I always really looked forward to them!

Client: group intervention

Lise has a gift of being able to listen and absorb so much more than what is verbally communicated and provide deep insights that are hugely beneficial. These insights and guidance have repeatedly unlocked stuck parts of me and have been transformational for my life.

Working with Cath has helped me in so many ways, especially in finding a new way (…) to actually bring me into my body and feel grounded and connected with myself (which has been incredibly important and transformative for me, as somebody who usually spends all of my time in my head!)

Mary Smail - psychotherapist and director and course leader of Seseme institute

Mary worked with my 7-year-old daughter who was petrified of going out after witnessing a dog attack. Mary literally spent 30 minutes with my daughter and to my amazement my daughter was calm and happy to be in the presence of dogs again! I would highly recommend her to anyone who has a phobia or fear.
